Key Capability : Controlled vacuum heating and dehydration of materials for accurate and repeatable space-environment testing.
The Outgassing Chamber is used to remove adsorbed moisture and volatile species from test specimens before vacuum and space-environment experiments. This process helps reproduce the desorbed state of materials in orbit and prevents outgassing-related mass loss from being misinterpreted as material erosion during subsequent exposure testing.
The pre-treatment procedure follows the vacuum dehydration practice specified in ASTM E2089-15(2020).
The chamber is equipped with a rotary vacuum pump, vacuum gauge, vent line, and a 6-inch heating stage capable of reaching 150 °C. Samples are heated under vacuum to remove moisture and volatile contaminants prior to testing.
By improving sample cleanliness and stabilizing the initial material condition, the system supports reliable and repeatable evaluation in vacuum, atomic oxygen, and other simulated space-environment experiments.
