On May 27, 2026, STAR Lab participated in the 2026 6th Optics Group Student Poster Competition held at KAIST, South Korea. At the event, Seoyoung Kim and Maneesha Dushmantha De Zoysa presented their recent research works in advanced optical systems and computational optics.

Seoyoung Kim presented a poster titled "Heater-Integrated Tunable Asymmetric Band-Pass Filter", research on compact reconfigurable band-pass transmissive filters based on phase-change materials and optical cavity structures. The work introduced an asymmetric DBR cavity architecture designed to address fabrication challenges caused by high-temperature annealing while maintaining strong optical field localization within the phase-change material layer. The study demonstrated the potential of reconfigurable optical filters for future spaceborne optical systems, including CubeSats, planetary exploration missions, and distributed satellite constellations.

Maneesha Dushmantha De Zoysa presented a poster titled “Scalability in Simulating a Large-Aperture, Fresnel Zone Plate Lens for a Conceptual Space Telescope.” His research explored the feasibility of using Fresnel zone plate lenses for large-aperture deployable space telescopes while addressing the computational challenges involved in simulating large-diameter optical systems. The study evaluated five Fourier-based propagation methods by comparing their validity, execution time, and peak memory usage to identify the scalability limits of each method.
